Dr Amrita Vohra- Principal, GIIS Chinchwad
With an endearing smile and warmth that is extended to the entire fraternity of Global Indian International School, Chinchwad, Dr Amrita Vohra is the most cherished connecting vital link between the students, faculty and the management.
With a Ph. D in Education Psychology, a Masters in Education and Botany, Dr Vohra believes in being a lifelong learner. She has also undertaken “Strategic leadership programme for CBSE Principal”, IIM Bangalore, Beginners course of Intel (Regd), ‘Teach to the Future’ Programme and Qualified the Central Selection board Army Welfare Education Society for PGT (Biology) and TGT (Science).
Having a rich academic experience spanning over two decades, her dynamic leadership has helped a lot of schools across the country to incorporate a healthy teaching-learning environ. Heading institutions like Global Indian International School, Chinchwad, Army Public School, Kolkata, Ashoka Hall Junior and High School, Jabalpur as the Principal she has been instrumental in bringing in innovative practices in the schools. She has also been a faculty with Army School, R K Puram, Secunderabad, Brightlands School, Dehradun, Uttaranchal, RIMC, (Prince of Wales, Royal Indian Military College), Dehradun, SFF School, Chakrata and Army School Ambala Cant., Ambala.
Always willing to explore and learn new concepts she has attended workshop in Singapore by Mr. Verne Harnish on Mastering the Rockefeller Habits, Kaizen, a Japanese concept, which aims at “change for the best” and focuses upon continuous improvement of processes in business management and self-organization and result orientation.
In her pursuit of excellence she visited the U.S. Harvard Graduate School of Education as an Educational Tour to attend a Program/ Course on Leadership – “An Evolving Vision” and has actively participated in the Annual South Western Command Principals Workshop in Oct 2011 Attended the Eastern Command Principals Workshop in Sep 2011. Adding to her impressive learning dossier, she attended an Online Workshop by Wide World, Harvard on Teaching for Understanding 1: Focus on Student Understanding Attended a Negotiation and Leadership program at Cambridge by Harvard MA. She has also successfully completed online course on Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects by University of California
She believes that harnessing oneself through workshops on innovative and child specific teaching learning methods help in ensuring completeness in development, pruning any lopsidedness, with expertise.
Dr Amrita Vohra has visited the USA and Singapore and has brought in ideas and practices that have enriched the institution profoundly.
She is an embodiment of motherly tenderness and genuineness and extends loving care to each child. Her laudable efforts lead to the profuse blossoming of inherent talent and confidence thus adding new dimensions to holistic development of each student.
