When independence resonates with the young India
The morning of August 15, 2017 was reverberating with the pride and happiness of being an Indian amongst the team of GIIS Chinchwad. While the festivities were all around the campus, the feeling of patriotism stirred all the souls bringing each one together to salute the national flag and remember the great heroes, the true sons of the soil and warriors of our motherland. The day began with the hoisting of the tricolor by the Director Principal, Dr Amrita Vohra. Each heart swelled with pride as the tunes of the national anthem filled the air. This was followed by the releasing of the tricolor balloons which was symbolic of freedom, flight and success.
The special assembly marking the 71st Independence Day was an event to look out for. The program began with paying homage and respects to the Father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi for his efforts that paved way for Indian independence. A beautiful song was presented by the School Choir. As they sung the iconic song celebrating and acknowledging the brave warriors of our motherland “Ae mere watan ke logon”, each one present in the auditorium could feel the elated sense of their responsibilities towards their country. A fusion dance performance celebrated the diversity of India and was appreciated by all.
Dr Vohra in her address spoke about the vision that our leaders had while fighting for independence. She urged the students to ask questions to them if they have truly attained freedom. She also encouraged them to work hard towards getting their country back to its “Sone ki chidiya” days and tread on a road less travelled to create opportunities and road map for a better India.
