Lord Krishna is an embodiment of playfulness, innocence, wit and charm that is beautifully associated with childhood. It is therefore seen that his birthday is observed and celebrated with great pomp and splendor all across the world. GIIS Chinchwad also celebrated the occasion of Janmashtami where students dressed up as little Radhas and Krishnas in Indian attire and finery.
A dance performance on “Madhuban mein jo kanhaiya” was the highlight of this program and it was endearing to witness the little ones dancing to glory. Small episodes from Krishna’s life were enacted by the children that showed the way he was adored even for his mistakes. Children also sang a song narrating the cute little antics of Kanha. Children also did the auspicious custom of Dahi Handi. It was endearing to see the little kanhas and gopis enjoy the occasion. Breaking the pot was indeed exciting as the children looted the goodies of the pot once they broke it. a lot of art and craft activities were conducted where children made flutes, peacock feather and dahi matkis as takeaways.
