To be good citizens…
A large part of the learning experience in kindergarten and early school years is socialization. Children are learning to cooperate and share with peers, to take part in group activities and talks, and to take responsibility for their own actions and for their own learning. All in all they are preparing themselves to be responsible citizens of a society that thrives on mutual tolerance and love. Global Indian International School observed the Safety and good citizenship week for its pre primary students sensitizing them towards safe and responsible living.
Honesty, compassion for others, respect, responsibility and courage are some of the primary ingredients to live a safe and responsible life and our tiny ones were oriented towards all of these. Teachers had conversations with their students on safety precautions to be taken while playing outdoors, with toys, near hot objects/fire, near water/pool, electric points, medicines kept in house and how to behave with strangers. They were shown videos on safety measures to be followed for road safety and water safety.
Students also indulged in activities like collage making where they stuck pictures of do’s and dont’s to ensure safety. Each class was to make one collage regarding fire safety, electric safety, water safety, hot/sharp objects in the kitchen). A puppet show was held for the students to learn “How to behave with strangers” through the story of Red Riding Hood.
