It is a very unfortunate reality of India that most road accidents/deaths happen due to negligence of the general public in observing traffic and safety rules. To change this prevailing scenario, it is imperative that the youth takes up this cause and bring to effect the hope of happy road trips.
On the occasion of the observance of ‘Traffic Day’ in PCMC and Pune city, the students of GIIS participated wholeheartedly. The students of grade 9 were a part of a long human chain which lined the roads across PCMC area. The children held flags in their hands and pasted stickers on vehicles to spread awareness. They stopped the 2-wheelers whose riders were not wearing helmets or were speeding beyond permissible limits and counselled them regarding the need as well as the benefits of following traffic rules. The enthusiasm of children was infectious and the riders promised them about being more responsible in future.
The drive was followed by a pledge led by officials of ‘Traffic Department’ along with the student leaders that they themselves would always observe traffic rules and would also spread awareness about the same to their family members as well as general public.
